Amsterdam Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The Tropenmuseum, or Tropical Museum, is in Amsterdam East, housed in a beautiful building complex which, all by itself, is worth the visit. An amalgamation of Dutch architectural styles such as stepped gables, arched windows, spires and turrets make up the 19th century facade, and the huge interior court is a fashionable location for concerts. The museum itself is one of Amsterdam’s most fascinating. It belongs to the Royal institute for the Tropics which is a foundation devoted to the study of the cultures of tropical areas all over the world and stems from the Dutch colonisation of many such areas. The walk through model village are especially captivating.
Amsterdam's Tropenmuseum is something truly out of the ordinary and will prove to be a most refreshing outing. You'll find that the service and comfort that you will experience in any of the marvellous Amsterdam hotels is also refreshing, as is most of the intriguing city of Amsterdam.
